Adriana Cordoba

Adriana obtained her first degree on Chemical Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). For her final dissertation she worked for the Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Engineering laboratory looking at plastic recycling technologies. Before coming to the UK, Adriana worked as a HS&E intern for a major pharmaceutical manufacturing company and then went on to work for an economic appraisal consultancy as an engineering adviser and project liaison for different financial and technical valuation projects funded by the Mexican government to determine the costs associated with industrial equipment, machinery and estates.

Adriana arrived in the UK in September 2004 to study for an MSc in Environmental Biotechnology from the University of Manchester (UMIST). Her final dissertation involved the use of Life Cycle Analysis to determine the benefits and challenges for plastic recycling. After the completion of her MSc degree she continued her research at the University to obtain a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Her research looked into the use of knowledge management techniques to ease the implementation of waste minimisation technologies in process industries in line with the UK legislative framework.

She currently works as Technologist for Pera Technology, looking at projects involving chemical engineering and environmental protection technologies. Adriana has recently been accepted as an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and is currently working to achieve chartered status.
