
Sian Mitchell is a highly experienced project manager with a broad range of experience in the areas of Technology Development in both the Contaminated Land and Food Manufacturing sectors.
Her recent successes include the TSB contaminated land projects, PROMISE, in collaboration with Cranfield University & Waveland which developed a continuous microwave remediation system and was voted one of the Technology Strategy Board’s Top 15 projects.
Sian’s current portfolio includes the TSB contaminated land project RoChemOx and she is currently negotiating the funded FP7 Research for Associations project HEISTT which aims to develop and in-situ treatment for contaminated land.
In addition to her work in land remediation, Sian is currently the project manager on an FP7 Research for SMEs project, LowTeV working on the development of an ultrasonic assisted, low water, low temperature cleaning in place system for the food manufacturing industry.
Prior to joining Pera, Sian’s experiences include 9 years with the Engineering & Quality divisions of Pepsico International’s Snack Food division which includes Frito Lay in the US, Walkers crisps in the UK and the Quaker brand.
As Quality Information Manager for Pepsico (Snack Foods) Europe Africa Middle East, Sian managed the sourcing and implementation of specification, knowledge, information and content management systems across a range of business cultures and environments. These systems were rolled out globally to over 3500 users via a range of role specific training tools and international conferences for upto1000 delegates.
Sian went on to develop Allergen Management programmes for the Europe, Africa and Middle East group, including Plant Hygiene and Product Handling for Allergen Control, Allergen Managed Production Scheduling and developed Protocols for Allergy Managed Consumer Trials. These were integrated into Pepsico’s daily routine, across a diverse range of manufacturing technologies and cultures and form one of the foundations of quality within the business.
Prior to working with Pepsico, Sian spent 3 years in Senior Food & Beverage management positions within 4 and 5 star hotels, 18 months as Executive Assistant at Lloyds Bank Business Services in Brighton, 18 months as Executive Assistant to the Merger Management Team during the merger of Brighton and Hove Councils, and most recently ran her own successful arts based company.
